Meet the new kid on the block As part of Hamster’s never-ending pledge to bring classic retro titles to modern platforms, the publisher has re-released UPL’s mini-mech – and fantastically-titled – shooterAtomic Robo-Kidon Nintendo Switch. Released in the arcades back in 1988 and eventually finding its way to home computers,Atomic Robo-Kidhas players pilot a cutesy mech character against throngs of deadly enemies, utilising a selection of varied weaponry to stay alive and reach each of the stage’s domineering boss characters, the “Governors”, whose epic size and scale blew us away back in the day....

Not long ago, Nintendostarted offeringcutesy Kirby patches as Club Nintendo rewards. “Amazing,” many of us joyfully proclaimed. But little did we know that something wasn’t quite right. Reader mephistowaltz received a Kirby patch from Club Nintendo with what we’re going to call “stoned eyes.” Thinking it was a fluke, a replacement was ordered, and guess what? The second patch had the very same off-putting eyes....
