Pokemon Go expanding its ‘nearby’ feature to all of US and Europe

It’s still not as good as the unofficial ones Previously, Niantic’s “Nearby” system forPokemon Go(hey! Something that was in at launch, then removed for months on end while independent versions were getting people banned), was limited to San Francisco, but according to a blog post they’re moving it up in the priority list. It’s expanding to all of the US now, as well as all of Europe, which is a tall order for a game that bugs out and crashes on a regular basis....

Professor Layton and the Curious Village EXHD looks great in first trailer

Those HD cutscenes are worth it, alone A scantfew days afterits announcement,Professor Layton and the Curious Village EXHDhas received a trailer and it looks great. While the game perfectly mimics the Nintendo DS’ dual screen setup on larger displays, I’m mostly in awe of the beautiful upconversion on those cutscenes. Even on the DS’ pixelated screen, the cutscenes looked wonderful and were very reminiscent of Studio Ghibli. Now, in full HD, they look stunning....

PS4: Your headsets won’t work at launch, some not at all

Shaking my headset This is a PS4 PSA. Like theXbox One, the PS4’s compatibility with existing headsets leaves a lot to be desired. Both consoles come with a fully functional headset, mind, but that’s little consolation for those with expensive gaming headsets. Potential PS4 compatibility, as reported byGame Informer, is complicated. If you own thePlayStation Pulse headset(I do, it’s pretty good), a system update will give the cans PS4 comparability. So, don’t expect to use it at launch....

Rest in peace, The Tomorrow Children

It’s such a shame this game didn’t resonate more Today marks the end of the road forThe Tomorrow Children, Q-Games and Japan Studio’s strange, somber, gorgeous, and oftentimes mundane social sandbox game about rebuilding a destroyed world. The free-to-play PlayStation 4 title shut down its servers todayas previously scheduled, and while it lacked the mechanical depth and hooks needed to keep me invested for too long after launch in October 2016, I am bummed knowing that it’s now gone for good....

Rock legend Sting will be performing at The Game Awards

I’ll be watching you One of the best parts ofThe Game Awardsevery year, in my opinion, is finding out which musical guest will be performing at the show. It can sometimes be jarring to see beloved bands likeCHVRCHESorGreen Dayinserted in the middle of such a meme-worthy event, but it can still make for some pretty awesome performances, plus it helps break up the monotony of the award presentations after a few hours....

PlayStation marketing boss John Koller has been talking toWiredabout the PSP and PlayStation Network, where he has revealed that digital distribution is the future of Sony’s handheld device. It’ll be Sony’s “big push” this year as the company focuses on simultaneous UMD and PSN releases for PSP games. “Not to say that retail isn’t of extreme importance, because it is,” Koller explains, “but the idea of offering content to consumers, to make it easy, you can wake up in the morning, download something and go, it’s very appealing....

TGS: Metal Gear is Rising and so are my expectations

Raiden’s high-frequency blade goes snicker-snack DespiteMetal Gear Rising: Revengeancehaving been available to play at several events over the last year, I’d never found time to play it. So, like the people of Japan, Tokyo Game Show was my first opportunity to get my hands on Platinum’s take on theMetal Gearseries. Why didn’t I make the time? What a fool I was! The demo here on the show floor starts out with a (skippable) VR training session and I wasn’t going to pass up on that when faced with an unfamiliar game in a language I don’t understand....
