After watching a bit of some fake (but well done) off-screen footage, you’ll see the camera pan down to show that a PS3 controller is being used to guide the action. Clever. Currently on the PTR As you may have heard, Blizzard is re-creating the originalDiabloinDiablo IIIas aonce a year eventgoing forward. Each January you’ll be able to access the original dungeon with all four original bosses by way of an added questline called “The Darkening of Tristram” with bonus retro visuals, and you’re able to test it out now on the PTR if you own a copy ofReaper of Souls. All you have to do is log into the PTR version, select a character that’s cleared up to the “Old Ruins [of Tristram]” location, then head to that waypoint from the map....
On June 2 Heroes of the Stormhas been in alpha and closed beta sessions for a while, but it’s prepping for a full launch next month. For now,you can enter the open betaon Mac or PC with a simple signup on the game’s website. While they’re testing, there may be a queue involved, but Blizzard promises “brief” waits. The game is free-to-play, and features a currency system for purchasing items, as well as premium items that take straight-cash....

Looks on brand If you haven’t been keeping up with Fumito Ueda, he’s been a pretty busy man. Over the course of a decade and a half he directedIco, Shadow of the Colossus, andThe Last Guardian, a pedigree worth retiring over. He’s still at it though, and after leaving Sony he’s back with his independent studio genDESIGN which is presumably crafting its first game. This teaser by way of the studio’s official website might be our first look at that project — an image that contains a girl on an altar (possibly a princess of some sort), and possibly a beast (or just a hairy giant man)....

TensorKart Only using an open source program that computes data, software developer Kevin Hughes set out to create an AI forMario Kart 64. In a fascinating rundown on his blog he explains how he did just that, slowly training a Mario to competently drive Luigi’s raceway like a player would. Although he shares the whole process he claims it “wasn’t easy,” and the gist is that he created a program to take screenshots of the game, which were synced with controller input....
There were some puzzles too “It’s not a gravity gun; it’s a magnet.” Guru Games, developer ofMagnetic: Cage Closed, stressed this to me at PAX East. It works like a real magnet, withfieldsradiating out in all directions, rather than affecting only a forward-facing space. In practice, it functions similarly in a lot of cases. Attract to pull objects closer, repel to push them further. It’s a bit of an oversimplification, but the magnet gun is central to solving the puzzles found inCage Closed....
Uncloaking September 18 Seventy-five percent of theCrysis Remasteredplatforms have not yet launched. Following a catastrophic gameplay reveal leak, Crytek pushed back the most performance-intensive platforms in hopes that some changes would keep it from getting shredded to bits. Switch launched though, andit’s surprisingly good! PC, PS4, and Xbox One need another month. Crytek has announced thatCrysis Remasteredis coming on September 18. It’ll be priced at $30. Aside from the release date, Crytek slid in some more info about the remaster....
