Games time forgot: I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream

If you’ve never read the short story “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream” by Harlan Ellison,do so. It’s one of the best short stories ever, and not in an O. Henry “oh life is kinda funny and wonderful but sad sometimes” kind of way. It’s about the last four people on the planet, trapped inside a massive, evil, omnipotent supercomputer who eternally tortures them. It’s not the sort of thing you’d expect to make a videogame about, but damn if The Dreamers Guild and Ellison himself didn’t manage to do it....

Get a look at the perhaps too humanoid Empoleon in Pokken Tournament

Guy in a penguin costume? When I first showed my friendMega Man 3many years back, he couldn’t stop laughing at how much Snake Man looked like “a guy in a snake suit.” And that’s kind of how I feel about this highly emotive character model for Empoleon inPokken Tournament, as he basically just looks like a dude withDragon Ballpowers who wandered into a Pokemon pit fighting organization. In this bit of footage Bandai Namco shows off the water and steel master, who was only just recently announced for the arcade edition of the game....

Giant mecha battle! Japanese Chroma Squad trailer is great

Chroma? I hardly even know her! We heard aboutChroma Squadlast yearand it looks great. It’s one half Sentai studio management sim, one half tactical, turn-based battler. You buy better actors, special effects, answer fan mail and fight people. I like it. It’s coming to Steam later this year, but you can play it on Early Access if you pre-order (or backed it on Kickstarter originally). You can also check it out at GDC and PAX East, which I hope to do....
