Nintendo of France expects the Switch to eclipse the Wii U by year’s end

Wow Talk about a sibling rivalry of Cain and Abel proportions, but the projections for the Switch versus the Wii U are some real salting the Earth type stuff. Nintendo of France’s deputy general manager Philippe Lavoue recently came out and said that they expect the Switch to beat out the Wii U’s lifetime sales as of this year. He brings up sales numbers for France, noting that whileMario Kart Wiihit three million sold in that region,Mario Kart 8on Wii U only hit 350,000 — so there’s potential for the Switch to smash that....

Overcoming Fear… except not really

Promoted from our Community Blogs [LaScary (the artist formerly known as LaTerry) and I have something in common. I don’t mix well with horror games typically. For me, it’s not even the scary stuff that gets to me. I’m fine with that. It’s that dreaded resource management that kills me, and this genre loves to shoehorn that in to everything. I end up stressing out so much over it that I eventually spend more time outside smoking cigarettes than actually playing the damn game....

Preview: FIFA 13 Wii U has some fly new features

Madden 13isn’t the only EA sports titlelaunching alongsideNintendo’s incoming Wii U, asFIFA 13will be too. Much like how the Vita’sFIFA Soccerwas built on the framework ofFIFA 11,FIFA 13on the Wii U is something like aFIFA 12.5. This might not be too bad of a deal, given that the PS3 and 360 versions are seeing more subtle iterative changes, compared to12’s more dramatic upgrade from11. It will be without some of the core gameplay changes that are coming toFIFA 13on PS3 and 360 though, like AI that take curved runs or the new first touch system meant to properly simulate reception (and avoid unrealistic perfect trapping on long passes by less skilled players), but there are a lot of Wii U specific additions that are rather cool....

Review: PlayStation VR 2

To VR or not to VR: The perpetual question of price The first time I encountered “VR” was at a county fair in the ’90s. It was for a racing game demo, and basically amounted to putting a TV on your head…I think I lost some of my eyesight that day. It was an absolutely fascinating experience all the same, and I’ve kept my eye on the tech ever since....
