Players across Japan battled it out yesterday over deep topic “Hana yori Dango”, or Flowers vs Dumplings, or Blossom vs Donuts, or Beauty vs Desire. Whichever way you wanna look at it, we have some pretty interesting results. Pearl’s Team Flowers took the ultimate 2-1 victory, havebarelycaptured both Team and Solo play. The vote however, leaned heavily toward Marina’s Team Dumplings, so the latter choice was pretty damn popular, and had the trophy snatched from their sugar-stained hands....

Coupled with the apparent lack of originality going on in Hollywood, video games of all types are very much in the firing line to be turned into the latest hit (or is sadly more often the case, flop) to grace cinemas around the world....

Wow It’s a sad day for fans of Two Tribes. The studio, which has been around since 2001, announced this morning that “this is it. After more than 15 years of hard work and gallons of blood, sweat and tears, we have decided thatRivewill be Two Tribes’ final game…we feel like dinosaurs in the games industry.” We’ve known aboutthe developer’s woesfor a while now, but this makes it official. At least it’ll be leaving behind a collective of great puzzle games as its legacy, and I wish the team luck in the future....

Australia’s largest daily paper, theHerald-Sun, has written a charmingly alarming piece that accuses the games industry of being “in denial” over the very real and very serious threat of videogame addiction. Describing so-called game addiction as a “national health problem,” the paper claims that the industry has backed away from the subject, while poorvictimslose their jobs and marriages over their 10-hour-a-day gaming habits. “It can be all consuming. I had one patient who was so involved with one game calledWorld of Warcraftand would play it up to eight ten hours a day,” claims psychologist William Campos....

For up to five people Beat Sabercame out of early access hibernation in 2019, but it doesn’t feel like it. The game has been tearing up pretty much every VR chart there is, making a name for itself as one of the defining “must have” VR titles. As the video plays I’m glancing over at the developer’s screens, seeing the awesome concept art, letting out an audible sigh. Seeing how uglyMightyis in the end is jarring, because Inti Creates released the greatAzure Striker Gunvoltin 2014, and Comcept developedSoul Sacrifice, both of which look great aesthetically....
