Famed writer/director Josef Fares (who helped writeBrothers: A Tale of Two Sons) is working with EA to give usA Way Out, a cooperative focused story experience that is made to be splitscreen only. The game stars Vincent and Leo, two guys at the end of their ropes in prison looking for a way out.

While online play will be available, the game is made to take advantage of multiple screens. There will be moments where player one gets a cutscene while player two is focusing on gameplay. I guess this is to capture the feeling of being on a couch, something that Josef is really excited about.

As trite as that trailer looks, this actually sounds like a great premise for a game. I can’t say I’ve ever played anything with a prison break in it (apart fromThe Chronicles of Riddick) and I really like Josef’s passion about the game. He seems really excited and his previous work onBrotherswas excellent. I’m optimistic about this.
