Did someone order more damage?
Every ARPG has its own unique systems to allow you to build your character how you want. WithDiablo 4, several of these new systems can be quite overwhelming with little to no information available in-game as to how they work. One such mechanic in is Overpower.
While there is an in-game tooltip with some information on how this effect works, it can be a bit confusing based on the wording. After doing a little research, we were able to figure out all you need to know aboutDiablo 4Overpower Damage. Check out our explanation below.
What is Overpower Damage inDiablo 4?
At its core, Overpower Damage is an additional modifier that can be triggered when you attack. Each attack—including skills—has a 3% chance to trigger Overpower Damage. The enhanced damage is based on your Life and Fortify stats. Furthermore, this effect stacks with the skill that triggered it, adding a base value of 50% to the damage of the skill. Essentially, this means the more powerful the skill that triggers Overpower, the more damage you will do.
Even though you can’t directly increase the base 3% chance to trigger Overpower Damage, there are some skills, certain items effects, and Paragon Board nodes that will allow you to guarantee Overpower. If your build triggers it frequently, it may be worthwhile to invest in Life and Fortify so you can further amplify your Overpower Damage.
Unfortunately, damage over time, channeled skills, and passive abilities will not trigger Overpower.
How to know when you trigger Overpower Damage
Thankfully, the game has a built-in system to keep track of when you trigger Overpower. Each time an attack connects with an enemy, the amount of damage is shown in one of four colors on the screen.
