Devil May Crycreator Hideki Kamiya isat it again, looking down on more videogames that he didn’t make and claiming that nobodybuilt upon the groundworkhe laid withDMC. In particular, Itagaki’sNinja Gaidenwas singled out, with Kamiya claiming it didn’t have the power required to interest him:
“I’ve never playedNinja Gaiden, and to be honest, I’m not that interested. The quality that gets you interested in something is that you feel something for them. Like on TV, or a movie, or a song, or whatever. You just feel something, and you get pulled into it, and then that’s how you pick something up. ButNinja Gaidenjust didn’t have that power, so that’s why I wasn’t interested in it.

Kamiya went on to trash nearly every other action game by claiming that after he madeDevil May Cry, “the baton was dropped” by his peers and nobody picked it up. The only game that theViewtiful Joecreator claims is a worthy rival isGod of War, and he states his plan is to exceed Sony’s exclusive action franchise.
“Devil May Crywas a bit rough, but I think that there’s no roughness inGod of War. I thinks that it’s very well-made. So there’s like a wall for your imagination or ideas, and when you’re actually creating something, you don’t even see the wall. But withGoW, I felt like I saw beyond the wall. So theGoWdev team’s imagination and their ideas were like… beyond. That’s something else that struck me.”

The former Capcom man then talked about his upcoming actiong gameBayonetta, describing it as a “sexy action game” and discussing that his dev team sometimes have trouble understanding him when trying to express the kind of moves he wants in the game:”I’m usually picturing a steamy hot woman doing the move, and I’m trying to do that, but I’m not actually able to convey that to the team, so it sometimes doesn’t get across to the team.” Well, he might be a bit more outspoken about others than is wise, but it sounds like Hideki Kamiya has some sexy moves. IfBayonettacan be as good as he, however, the man can run his mouth all he wants.
