Brain training

I was enthralled byThe Witnesswhen it first came out, and three years later, I feel like I’m in a place where I can go through the game again almost as if it were new. I’ve forgotten whole swaths of the island. I don’t remember most of the puzzle logic and rules. Replaying it now won’t be quite the same as before — nothing ever will be — but I’m hoping to recapture some of thatmagic of discovery.

If you’ve never gotten intoThe Witness, now’s a good time to do so. It’s a wonderful game, full stop. And as of this week,it’s free to claim and own on the Epic Games Store. The deal lasts until April 18.

Some people are naturally going to bounce offThe Witness, but I maintain that it’s worth trying even if you aren’t that into puzzle games and even if you never end up finishing it. On the surface, it’s just a game about many, manyline puzzles, but really, it’s a game about learning and making breakthroughs.

I can’t promise you’ll love it as much as I do, but it’s absolutely worth trying. That goes for everyone whosnaggedThe Witnessthrough PlayStation Plus, too. Don’t let it linger in your library forever!
