Game Freak has got agood thing goingwith thePokemonfranchise. In case you were expecting to see any large changes to the company’s formula for success, allow art directorKen Sugimori and director/composerJunichi Masuda to set the record straight.
Official Nintendo Magazinewanted to see what the pair thought of a Wii version of the main DS series. “I am interested in strong visual effects,” beginsSugimori.“However, I believe thatPokemonis most appropriate for portable consoles.”

Junichi Masudaresponds similarly, saying “I’m really not thinking about having the mainPokemongames on the Wii, because using portable consoles means you can always carry Pokemon around with you and you can play with other players, so that’s the future I’d like to emphasize.”
How do you feel about this? I think experimentation should be applauded, but it makes plenty of sense why Nintendo and Game Freak wouldn’t want to deviate from what is clearly a winning strategy.
