Netflix hosted aDrop 01 livestreamtoday, taking the opportunity to tease theDevil May Cryanimated series. Capcom’s action series is coming to Netflix, withCastlevaniaproducer Adi Shankar and Studio Mir (My Adventures with Superman) on board.
While we don’t get to see much of it, Dante looks pumped enough as he backflips, shoots, and dodges incoming attacks. Check out roughly five seconds of footage sandwiched between some menacing title cards below.

Adi Shankar first revealed his acquisition of theDevil May Cryseries rightsback in November 2018. Two more seasons ofCastlevaniahave made their way to fans since, and the Richter-centricCastlevania: Nocturnepremieres tomorrow. As forDevil May Cry, its status still says “coming soon,” so we’ll have to wait to see exactly when it drops.
Other folks involved in the series include writer Alex Larson, Seung Wook Lee of Studio Mir, andDevil May Crysequel director Hideaki Itsuno. Itsuno alreadyassured everyonehe’s “supervising it properly.”

Netflix’sDevil May Cryseries isn’t Dante’s first animated spin. The Son of Sparda previously hit the screen in the appropriately titledDevil May Cry: The Animated Seriesanime. That one ran for 12 episodes in 2007 and came from Madhouse (One-Punch Man) and director Shin Itagaki (Berserk2016). The series was written by Toshiki Inoue, known for anime likeDeath Noteand live-action shows likeChoujin Sentai Jetman. Whenever “soon” ends up being, we’ll finally see how Dante holds up 16 years after his last animated outing.
