Update your game and grab it from the store

Given how nearly every publisher has a different delivery system for DLC, you’d be forgiven for being confused as to how Capcom has chosen to roll out Mercenaries in theResident Evil 4remake. The mode wasn’t included at launch, but was instead added several weeks later in the form of free DLC. Here’s how to get started.

Step 1: Update theResident Evil 4remake

Update theResident Evil 4remake on your respective platform first. This is to ensure that you have the latest patch and are good to go.

You also need to download the Mercs DLC separately: which you can do on the platform itself, or through the links below.

You’ll want to grab the DLC as a separate listing on each storefront (Steam, PSN, the Xbox store):

And that’s it! Again, this is a free download in perpetuity, so you don’t need to worry about any gated unlocks. You also don’t need to finish the story at all to play Mercenaries on any platform: the same will just warn you that you probablyshouldplay the core game before jumping right in, but it’s perfectly fine.
