Rockstar Games has a knack for breaking all kinds of records with its titles. BothGrand Theft Auto IVandVset recordsin their day and now the recently releasedRed Dead Redemption 2is following suit. While not eclipsing the same three-day sales record asGTA V(which launched on a Tuesday),RDR 2has become the biggest opening weekend ever in all of entertainment. The game managed to sell around $725 million worldwide, which is insanely impressive.
Put another way,Red Dead Redemption 2is the biggest entertainment launch of 2018 (and will likely continue that steam into the holiday). It was also the most pre-ordered full game in the history of the PlayStation Network, now holds the biggest day one sales record on PSN and also claimed the biggest three-day full game sales stat on PSN.
This is even before considering thatRed Dead Onlinewill be coming next month. Who knows how wellRDR 2will clean up during Christmas when everyone has more time to play it? I guess the eight years between releases hyped people up a bit.
