Over a year ago, a pixel artist by the name of junkboy whipped upa whole bunch of demakesof popular game properties, turningKillzoneintoContra,Brütal Legendinto a LucasArts point-and-click, and more. I don’t know how many of you are aware, but junkboy is actually Markus Toivonen,Mojang’s art director. I guess he’s been so busy helping Notch take over the world that he hasn’t had much time for personal projects as of late.
Over on his deviantART page, Markus has just uploaded a pair of pixel masterpieces — a mockup of somegothic beat-em-upand theHalodemaketeased above. These have actually been available on hisTumblrsince the summer, but hopefully this will give his work a little extra exposure.
I flat-out love pixel art (who doesn’t?), so the more eyeballs on this stuff, the better.
