Relic Entertainment is based in Canada and has been behind such hits asWarhammer 40,000: Dawn of WarandHomeworld. Their area of expertise is strategy games, with their most recent title beingCompany of Heroes 3. WhileCompany of Heroes 3didwell critically, user reception ismuch worse, with the addition of microtransactions often cited for the negative response. Nonetheless, if missing targets was the reason for the job cuts, Sega hasn’t disclosed anything.

Layoffs always suck, especially ones of this magnitude. It’s something we, unfortunately, seea lot of in this industry. Hopefully, those affected can quickly find a new home and continue doing what they love. I also hope Relic’s “restructuring” goes well, and we can continue to see more from the studio.
