Fledgling studio Dramatic Labs has announced that its graphic adventure gameStar Trek: Resurgencewill no longer meet its 2022 release date — The space opera adaptation will now launch in April 2023 on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms.
“Production has been advancing steadily all summer, but we have made the difficult decision to move our release date out of 2022 in order to give the game a final coat of polish, and create a truly immersiveStar Trekexperience,”writes the developer in a statement posted to Twitter.
“Our love and admiration forStar Trekis instrumental to this decision. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, and this continues to be a passion project for everyone here. We are incredibly grateful — and excited — to be able to work within a universe that means so much to so many. We can’t wait for you to see it all and look forward to taking you on an adventure unlike anyStar Trekgame that’s come before.”
Originally revealed atThe Game Awards just last year,Star Trek: Resurgenceis a narrative experience in the vein of Telltale Games’ litany of choice-based adventure games. Studio Dramatic Labs is itself made up of former Telltale Games employees, and thus one can likely expect the people politics, dramatic tension, and moral decision-making of games such asThe Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, andBatman: The Telltale Series.
Star Trek: Resurgencewill launch April 2023 on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms.
