The 1.4 update also lets you split up your funds in co-op

Stardew Valleyis calling my name. In a preview on Twitter, game creator Eric Barone offered a glimpse of the 1.4 update which, among other things, will bring new features for multiplayer sessions.

As it currently stands, money is shared between players inStardew Valley‘s co-op mode–a decision that can lead to selfishness, tension, and passive-aggressive notes. But with the 1.4 update, you’ll be able to select a “separate money” option. “You’re still working together to achieve common goals,”according to Barone, “it’s just a little more independent (which leads to some interesting gameplay).”

If you already have a multiplayer save file and don’t want to start fresh to enjoy financial independence, you won’t be out of luck. Your group members canseparate (and even rejoin) their savingsby ducking into the Mayor’s house. “If you separate it, the current funds will be split evenly among the players.”

The designer also showed off a new map called Four Corners. As the name suggests, it’s probably best enjoyed as a multiplayer farm, but it’ll be accessible in solo play too if you’re living that hermit life.

Stardew Valley‘s 1.4 update will debut on PC in the hopefully near future before making its way onto consoles and mobile devices. “It’s a big one, and this image only reveals a fraction of what’s coming.”

I haven’t triedStardewco-op outside of a cursory test when the mode first launched, but that might change when 1.4 releases. I know myself well enough to know I’m not to be trusted with budgeting. Do I need to upgrade all of my barely-used tools right away? No. Will I still prioritize them? Absolutely.
