Inspired by Utopia from SARPBC

Rocket Leagueis taking off like a, well, rocket I guess. The simple complexity seems to really be jiving with a lot of people, and I couldn’t be happier. As a big fan ofSupersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, I’m so excited to actually have tons of people to play against now! The developer, Psyonix, has teased us with a screenshotof the upcoming map, which is based off of a map called Utopia from the first game.

Now, the original Utopia, for those who haven’t playedSARPBC, was not a traditional arena like all the maps inRocket League. The map was a big horseshoe, and the goals connected to each other to create a sort-of donut shape. Here’s a videoof a match being played on the original Utopia. This new arena is sticking to the “one map to rule them all” idea, but the aesthetic comes from Utopia.

As a bigDota 2fan, I get the idea behind having the map always be the same. At the same time, I wishRocket Leaguehad one or two maps that harkened back to theSARPBCdays with more interesting maps. Regardless, it looks like the new map will be available “within the next few weeks.” This map will be free, along with a lot of other fixed in anupcoming patch. Two car skins will also be offered as paid DLC, which you may seehereandhere.

Personally, I’ll buy pretty much anything Psyonix puts out there.SARPBCnever got too much traction, so I’m glad to see the developer get the attention it deserves withRocket League, and plan to support it in any way I can!
