See more of the apocalypse

Shin Megami Tensei Vupdate version 1.0.2 is live on Switch, and it includes an FOV slider as well as the ability to tweak brightness levels.Although the official patch notes were provided on the Japanese Atlus site, here’s a quick rundown of some of the quality of life features that were added.

Shin Megami Tensei Vupdate 1.02 rundown

An optional FOV slider in the system menu, which allows up to 11 levels of toggling. You can see the difference between the base game on the left in the gallery below, medium settings in the middle, and maximum settings on the right. It’s a pretty big difference, and should serve people well during open world exploration.

Similarly, a brightness slider is also in. This one also goes to 11! To avoid spoilers, I’ll also be vague here: another big part of the update is making the “Demon Castle” a bit easier to manage (for anyone who already cleared it, it deals with the wind). Additional notes include “minor fixes,” likely patching up odds and ends.

Shin Megami Tensei V FOV quality of life update

Given how much of a triumph the game already was, seeing a significantSMT Vupdate like this so soon is pretty wonderful. It must be easier for Atlus to just micromanage one platform, and hopefully we’ll see more of these types of upgrades in the future.
