Ubisoft is reportedly planning a big move to strengthen its finances and become more stable in 2025 and beyond.
According toBloomberg, the company is looking for investors to help create a new business unit that will hold its biggest franchises, includingAssassin’s Creed.Ubisoftwould still be the main owner of this new unit, but it would sell a small part of it to an outside investor.
This doesn’t mean the investor would own Ubisoft’s current IPs or have control over them. Ubisoft would remain in charge, keeping full decision-making power while using the investment to bring in more money.
This move comes at a time when Ubisoft’s stock has been struggling, and the company is betting big onAssassin’s Creed Shadows, which launches on March 20, to help turn things around.
What Ubisoft creating a new company and selling part of it means
Ubisoft’s move is essentially a way to get a large cash boost upfront by selling a small stake in a new entity that includesAssassin’s Creedand other IPs—without tying it directly to how well any single game or product performs.
