If you haven’t come across the website for Chris Roberts lately, prepare to be put in a good mood. (The access code is 42.) The creator ofWing Commanderis putting his film producing on hold to come back to games. We’ll find out exactly what he has in mind on October 10, but for now, Roberts sets the stage.

“I grew up making video games,” he writes. “I sold my first game at the age of 13 and createdWing Commanderwhen I was 21. But 10 years ago, at the height of my career I took a break. Not because I stopped loving or playing games but because I had become frustrated with the limits of the technology at the time to realize my vision.”

The time has come. “With the power of today’s computers and the reach of the internet,” he continues, “I finally feel I have the tools to build the connected experience that I always dreamed of. A world that would be more satisfying and richer than any film I could work on.”

Whatever this project is, fans of Roberts’ games should be in for a treat, as it “embraces everything that my past games stood for but takes it to the next level.”
